Moore, 2 pages, 4.5 x 7, Chelsea, Jan 12, 1855, by the British gardener and botanist who was an expert on ferns and fern allies from the British Isles, served as Curator of the Society of Apothecaries Garden (1848-87), and authored The Ferns of Great Britain and Ireland. He was also the editor of a number of garden publications, including The Gardeners' Magazine of Botany the Gardeners' Chronicle , and the Orchid Album. Besides papers on ferns in various botanical journals, Moore was the author or editor of a number of botanical reference books.

We have not to my knowledge Sloanes herbarium here. Nymphaeas we do not keep at all - having no accommodation for them; in fact for the present we prefer to do little more than keep the hardy plants alive. You have probably seen the figures in Van Houtte's Flore Des Serres which contains several, with text by Dr. Planchon [French botanist, Jules Emile Planchon (1823-88)]. The letter is in fine condition, with minor age toning.
