12" by 9" & 3.5 thick w/ 630 /640 pages = 1270 total. With 40 full page steel engravings with tissue guards. & 1 color half title /. Every page has a beautiful pictorial border! Divided into 2 parts, 1 for Mac-Geoghegan & 1 for Mitchel.

It would be impossible to list out everything in here... Pagans, origin of languages, Egyptians instructing the Irish, tombs of nobility, wars. Norman / Viking / Danes invasions, religions, Catholics, churches & church leaders, Castles, Abbeys. Patrick [& other Saints], Kings & Queens, leaders, Doctors. Expeditions, the Welsh, government, laws, famines, revolts, famous people.

I can't imagine anything was left out. Photos carefully as they are part of the description. All of my books are VERY OLD and have 100+ years of wear to varying degrees. Boards - secure, leather is soft.

Gilt is not perfect - but nearly so! Hardly any wear to the leather / true color is picture #1 = brown with black borders. Pretty good - just starting to get tender. Spine ends - very good top - the smallest amount of wear to the top 1 / small repair to the bottom.

Along with some chipping [shown in last picture] / spine was a bit dry and starting to crack so it does have some wrinkles - I put conditioner on it several times and now the leather is soft. If you need a better picture of the spine, send me a message.

Worn through a bit & touched up. Inner hinges - very good, new brown cloth [over the old brown cloth] to help secure the boards. Pages - generally very clean! 20 leaves with a very light stain in the upper corner, showed you the darkest part in picture #11, most are lighter than this. Writing - name on ffep.

Rips /folds - no bad folds that I saw, a few wee tips bent / several maybe 40? - out of 1,270 pages very, very small rips / front end paper has edge wear plus a few maybe 12? Very small nicks to some edges --very small!! Wee tip of the free rear endpaper missing. There was a name on the front cover in gilt, when it came to me someone had tried to eliminate the name, so that area is touched up - please zoom in picture #2 - it is just below the gilt picture / 2 of the tissue guards are missing. A NICE ONE FOR YOUR LIBRARY! Please Add me to your Favorites list.

This book is very old and. May have accumulated bad smells along the way [musty basement/ mildew/ smoke].

Dryer sheets in them for a few months makes a world of difference! My nose doesn't work like it use to. So the old book smell doesn't bother me.

As far as I can tell -this book does not smell bad.
