American Estates Simeon Turner Sandblasted Bent Dublin with Plateau 2013
Simeon Turner was a high school English teacher when he became infatuated with pipe smoking. He became so enthusiastic that he quit teaching to make his own pipes. Though now retired, Simeon Turner, for his brief career, produced some amazing masterpieces. I met Simeon briefly years ago at the Chicago Pipe Show, and immediately knew I was looking at a true artisan and brilliant craftsman! His fit, finish, and attention to detail are all flawless. His grain placement is nothing short of spectacular. About his pipes, he states It is my hope that you would find a pipe that speaks to you somehow, that in some small way I can contribute to a greater story: the story of long smokes in good company that can be passed down from generation to generation. This piece, made in 2013, is a Bent Dublin shape with a bowl that commands the majority of the pipe's visual weight with it's massively thick walls leading to a gorgeous and craggy plateau. Covered in a medium-depth sandblast cascading down the flanks, its heel firm and solid and bearing splendid curvature, maintained by a precise transition to a sinuous shank-and-stem arrangement. The shank is slender and slightly tapering as it leaves the bowl to join a jet-black acrylic bent stem with a white accent band.
Its balance is, of course, sublime, and it's in mint condition as well. This pipe promises to be a trusted friend for a lifetime. Don't miss out on the opportunity to add this stunning piece to your rotation or collection.
