A copy of a 1598 letter by merchant John Rothe fitz Piers acting as a messenger for Queen Elizabeth I for peace in Ireland. Piers was only a prominent merchant and messenger. The writing and paper looks to be 18th century and the watermark is shown. The writing is not of the 1500's and my knowledge base is the 18th-20th century and would place it in the 18th C.
